That millions of girls are not in school is a well-known fact. The door to education seems to be shut for girls due to discrimination, early marriage, domestic chores, lack of funds, or merely because they are simply girls or just ignored. They for sure want to learn, achieve their ability, work and help their families and communities. They are exploited, abused, and simply disregarded in many countries. Millions of girls around the world have not made it to even primary school. About 130 million girls are not in schools in any age group, says statistics for the year 2020. All of CREST's attempts in reviving and propagating the Value of the Girl Child stems from the realization that terrorism starts early in India. It starts in the womb & the Cult of Violence grows.
CREST, for 22 long years, has been a source of strength to the Girl Child, by providing LIGHT in the form of Education & WATER in the form of Nutrition, so that the girls have a chance to live a wholesome life. CREST with zeal has helped about 1000 girls through this program, Educating them from class one up to class ten. We have monitored the child's education by school visits, supplementary tutorials in Maths, English, Social Sciences and widening their outlook by conducting cultural studies and lectures by Indian and foreign visitors.
Additional activities under this Program were the Bharatanatyam dance classes, Music classes on flute and violin were taught regularly. They also had hands on training at CREST by teachers from Chitra Kala Parishath, articles include cards, pots, wall hangings, etc. Yoga classes were conducted at CREST by teachers from Patanjali Academy and others. Swimming classes were conducted at CREST by trained professionals.
We invigorate the girls with high-protein drinks as a nutritional supplement; provide regular provisions for their families and frequent house visits for monitoring. Medical Camps were organized regularly to monitor the Children and Families wellbeing.
CREST focused on slums and surrounding villages to identify girls from poor deprived families, alcoholic parents, orphans etc. Now, many such aided girls have completed their graduation and are working in schools, colleges, and other occupations. Some have even come back to help educate other girls by volunteering at CREST.
